THE REGION
Provence is renowned for its climate, its
culture and its geographical beauty, its
food and wine. Le Paradou enjoys its own
microclimate with 300 days of sunshine a
year, making it a year round destination.
Archeological remains are plentiful and
most date back to Roman times. Many of
the larger structures such as theatres,
amphitheatres and mini-Colosseums are
still in use today staging musical
performances in outdoor and original
settings.
The Alpilles and the Camargue are rightly
protected areas and the photographs on
these pages will tell you far more than
words alone can achieve about the beauty
of the region. Indeed many painters,
including no less than Van Gogh and
Cézanne lived in and painted many scenes
from the locality.
